About Me
Hi, I'm Tony Delnay. Back in 2002, to save a little money, I started keeping track of good restaurants in the Louisville, KY area, that offered "kids eat free" deals. Some of my friends found out about my list and would occasionally ask me where the deals were. I eventually started keeping the list online in a simple, single page, so my friends could use it too. As I found more and more restaurants that offered this program, the site became more difficult to manage, so I taught myself a little web programming and after a lot of trial and error, and several revisions, created this site. The site has become very popular and thousands of nice folks stop by every month looking through the listings to find restaurants in their area that offer kids eat free programs. Our goal is that you will find the site useful and will save money when dining out with your family.
About the Technology
The site is written using the LAMP (Linux Apache Mysql PHP) technology. Although I own a nice "paid-for" photo editor, all of the graphics were hand built / edited with good 'ole fashioned GIMP. I also hand coded the site. I probably could have saved time using a nice framework -or one of those drag-n-drop coding tools, but I believe there is something that is said for writing it yourself. No junk in the code, and you know exactly what each line of code is doing. I am not a huge fan of Javascript, but do have some of it sprinkled around the site for convenience.

KidsEat4Free actually has a little known double meaning. We not only help you find places where your kids can eat free, but we also help children all over the world eat for free too. Working through "World Vision", KidsEat4Free uses some of our revenue to sponsor some wonderful children that live in some very poor conditions. World Vision is helping change that.
